Setting A New Sustainability Standard
Sustainability is more than a trendy buzzword to us. Low Carbon Technologies' (LCT) science-backed certifications produce more than a claim, rather solutions that encourage climate conscious farming practices, enhance dietary options and bolster local economies.
A Cut Above
U.S. cattle ranchers and farmers are like you, and care about fostering a sustainable future for the next generation. Between 1961 and 2019 the domestic beef industry, through continued sustainability efforts and improved resource use, has reduced emissions per pound of beef produced by more than 40% while also generating an additional 67% more beef per animal.1 But that’s just the start.
Grounded In Measurement
The food supply chain works together to ensure grasslands, farmland, animals and people are nourished. Producers enrolled in our programs share our vision of pushing the status quo. They hold themselves to voluntary standards and adopt additional climate-smart practices, producing the very best products with less. At least 10% fewer emissions compared to industry benchmarks to be exact. We meticulously measure and calculate their efforts to ensure the low carbon certified label you see on products in the store have been produced with environmental, economic and social impacts in mind.
A Continuous Cycle
Livestock play a vital role in ecosystems. Unlike fossil fuels, cattle for example contribute to soil health by enriching it with manure. This natural fertilizer supports plant growth, which later absorb carbon from the atmosphere and convert it into carbohydrates. Cattle then consume these plants, using that energy to generate high-quality, protein-packed products such as meat and milk. This initiates a vital cycle crucial for restoring and regenerating the land.
