Ian Johnson joins Low Carbon Technologies

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 2, 2024 – Low Carbon Technologies LLC, the sustainability division of Select Sires Inc., has hired Ian Johnson for the role of product specialist. Johnson will be responsible for developing and promoting innovative solutions that drive sustainability and improve environmental stewardship within the industry. He will work closely with cross-functional teams, engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners to understand market needs while driving product development and sales.

Ian’s passion for animal agriculture and enthusiasm for helping producers maximize their profit potential make him an ideal addition to our growing team,” said Ron Schuller, chief operating officer, Low Carbon Technologies LLC. “His ability to find the optimal solutions for each operation and evaluate product performance will be crucial for Low Carbon Technologies to deliver customers strategies that elevate the operational efficiency of their businesses.” 

A native of Marysville, Ohio, Johnson is a 2024 graduate of Iowa State University where he double majored in animal science and international agriculture. As the president of Alpha Gamma Rho Professional Fraternity, Johnson worked with active members and alumni to host philanthropic and community service events, as well as livestock shows. He also served as the vice president of scholarship efforts, encouraging members to achieve academic success and grow from professional development opportunities. Johnson was active in the Student Alumni Leadership Council and was the recipient of the Wallace E. Barron Top University Senior Award and Iowa State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences – Leadership and Innovation Senior Award. In 2024, he was accepted into the Cardinal Key Honor Society.

Johnson’s professional internship experiences include COBA/Select Sires, Purina/Centerra Co-Op and Select Sires Inc. In 2021, he developed sales and service skills while growing his cattle reproduction and genetic knowledge as a reproductive services client manager intern with COBA/Select Sires. Johnson’s internship with Purina/Centerra Co-Op included data collection, creation and implementation of standard operation procedures for dairies with automated milking systems and general consultation. Most recently, he interned with Select Sires Inc. as a marketing intern. He conducted market research, shared competitor analysis summaries and helped to refine existing proprietary breeding calculators.

Johnson’s collegiate activities and internship experiences combined with his passion for agriculture, environmental stewardship and farmer support offer a tremendous foundation for his role as product specialist with Low Carbon Technologies.
